Deshi:  How long do I have to train before I receive my black belt?

Sensei:  You can have that right now if you would like.

Deshi:  I see what you are saying.  Let me ask then, how long until I become very proficient in the art.

Sensei:  How long do you have?

Deshi:  Let us say, I have my whole lifetime.

Sensei:  Let us say, that will not be enough.  However, should you train a lifetime, when you pass on, and when people speak of you in memory, they will say, "He knew more than most."
