Jo and Bokken - clip two
Clip Two This clip shows in slow motion a basic jo/bokken set practiced at Senshin Center. The set is designed to teach a practitioner both the advantages and disadvantages of each weapon. The set also includes many basic tactics particular to both the sword and the short staff. These basic tactics go on to influence one’s body art. The underlying theme of this particular set is to make full use of the length of each weapon as each partner is traveling from tactics that are long to tactics that are short. The jo forces this upon the sword by using its length to attack the sword’s movement at its origin. The sword forces this upon the jo by using its speed to attack the jo’s length. Spontaneous variations are presented in the jo’s finishing moves. Uke: Anthony Rachelli - Sankyu; Michael Harris - Sankyu. (1 minute, 8 seconds) |
