In/Yo Aiki-Jo Set #1

The purpose of this set is to explore Yin and Yang tactics through the spectrum of Irimi and/or tactical initiative.  While the set may appear to merely be a series of attacks that are then matched by a corresponding counter, practitioners are asked to penetrate the surface of the form in order to cultivate the necessary essence that underlies both Irimi and tactical initiative.  In the set, each practitioner is attempting to stall the tactical initiative of their partner while seeking to establish their own along an application of Irimi.  Toward this end, Yin tactics are used symbiotically with Yang tactics.  As a result, practitioners are encouraged to penetrate more deeply the subtleties of energy transference as they occur through the interdependency of Yin and Yang.  Each move must reach its fruition while each practitioner seeks a non-attachment toward that which came before or that which will come after.  Should a practitioner fail in meeting his/her own role, the set would halt at a previous tactical location, with “defeat” falling there as well. Uke: Sean Sanders - Shodan. (1 minute, 9 seconds)
